Over the weekend, the music industry came together for the 'Global Goal: Unite for our Future' concert. In fact, these artists were also joined by leaders, medical experts, and scientists who shared their thoughts and plans to beat the global coronavirus pandemic.

The event managed to mobilize $1.3 billion to address the health-related impact of the COVID-19 pandemic globally.

Hosted by Dwayne Johnson, the concert featured some of the biggest names in the music industry. And we're here to take you through some of the brightest moments of this virtual event.

A number of musicians are coming together to fight for yet another cause. With Global Citizen and the European Commission announcing the "Global Goal: Unite for Our Future" Concert - a string of stellar stars have lined up to perform.

On the list is Miley Cyrus, Coldplay, Quavo, and of course Shakira. So, as we gear up to watch Shakira take the stage (or perhaps her living room) once more, we have a treat in store for you. So, we don't know what her set list is going to look like but that got us thinking. Why don't we take ya'll on a trip down memory lane? It's time to look back on all those killer Shakira numbers that we've jammed out to, until someone's had to beg us to stop.

As the flood of virtual concerts continue, next in line is quite the big one. Global Citizen and the European Commission recently announced the "Global Goal: Unite for Our Future" Concert. The event, which will be preceded by a summit, will turn the spotlight on the manner in which the global coronavirus pandemic has impacted marginalized communities.

This concert will witness a string of stars, from the likes of Justin Bieber, Coldplay, Shakira, Miley Cyrus, Quavo, J Balvin, Usher and a number of other artists. Taking his place as the host, will be Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. 

In a powerful statement, Miley Cyrus, who's scheduled to perform, pointed out that their efforts would aid communities. Especially when it comes to COVID-19 testing or even treatment. 

"This moment requires all of us to act. As Global Citizens, we're calling on leaders around the world to combat the disproportionate impact COVID-19 has on marginalized communities by committing funds to develop and deliver tests, treatments, and therapeutics," Cyrus said. "Because of this global effort, we will be more able to ensure that everyone, everywhere has access to COVID-19 testing and treatment, regardless of their income or where they live."

So, What Does this Concert Bring to the Table?

Hugh Evans, co-founder and CEO of Global Citizen, emphasized that this concert will, “bring the centuries-old concept of music as a motivator for change and unity, together with science and data, to honor the problem solvers — including doctors, scientists, lab workers, essential workers, and human rights advocates — who are racing to not only create the cure for COVID-19, but also to ensure that it’s available for everyone who needs it.” 

The summit and concert will work to encourage governments, to implement changes regarding COVID-19 tests and vaccines. In order to make them more accessible and cheaper. 

The concert is set to take place on June 27th, so keep an eye out. 

The Fête de la Musique, also known in English as  'World Music Day', is an annual celebration that takes place on June 21st. On this day, people are urged to play music outside, in public spaces to celebrate it and rejoice in the sensory pleasures it leaves behind.  

The first all-day musical celebration on the day of the summer solstice was originated by Jack Lang, Minister of Culture of France, as well as by Maurice Fleuret; it was celebrated in Paris in 1982. From then on, 'World Music Day' has become an International phenomenon, celebrated uniquely across numerous countries. 

And we are taking the festivities forward in our own special way.  Right now, we're looking at hit tunes from across the world, that have made their mark on countless generations. Despite language barriers, these songs have united people, who all share a love for these distinctive, groovy sounds. 
So, let's dive right in, shall we? 

So, go ahead and listen to these lovely tracks. In fact, play them on repeat, because these are truly the kind of tunes that will linger with us forever. 

Women’s day took place on 8Th march; the internet was flooded with messages in support for women. Something that stood out was the women in the music industry taking things into their own hands. Even though women make up more than 50% of the music industry, the problems arise with regards to their pay and their show bookings. . This past year saw feminist revolutions in the music industry with women calling out abusers and double standards and so far it has been marvelous and empowering!

A few stars who slayed it on twitter include artists like Lady Gaga, Shakira, Kelly Rowland! Kylie took it to social media to celebrate the women who have influenced her by posting a throwback picture of her mother and sister. Rowland posted a picture of her dressed as Rosie the Riveter. Lady Gaga took it one step further by teaming up with Apple music to create a playlist for all the women out there.

She announced the good news via twitter , where she wrote #InternationalWomensDay and I’m celebrating all of the strong, women of choice aERll over the world with this playlist full of songs all from female artists," she tweeted.

Many artists have extended their support to the queer community by making the day more inclusive and showing support for their peers who identify as women and womxn. This reclamation of the word women into womxn was acknowledged and lauded by many stars.

Queen B teamed up with Apple to release “Behind the Mac”, a video tribute to all the women who’ve made a difference in the tech field where women aren’t encouraged to be present. Breaking stereotypes in her field of music she said that it was important to motivate more women to pursue STEM subjects to make sure that women’s potentials are realized. YAS QUEEN! The future is female!

when 170 belly dancers get together to put on a show, you know for sure it's nothing short of being lit .the mix of their music will only linger on , but the performance will leave you spellbound .

Jennifer Lopez and Shakira bedazzle the Super Bowl Halftime. This is the first Super Bowl Halftime show where all artists are Latin! It looks like America is becoming more inclusive."Being at the Super Bowl is very symbolic in a way, and I feel we have a great responsibility with the Latinos around the world," Shakira said in an interview.

JLo and Shakira graced the Halftime platform with energy and pop. The duo showed the world what two Latin Girls can do, Crowd surfing , Knee gliding, Belly Dancing and even play drums! They performed their energetic piece , bolting through 20 songs in just 12 minutes.

“Hola Miami” shouted Shakira as she opened the set with the disco strut of "She Wolf" before segueing to the grungy rock of Empire, and throwing in a few bars of Led Zeppelin's Kashmir as she pulled out a black sequinned guitar.

The 43 year old, who celebrated her birthday yesterday , sang her biggest hit “Hips don't Lie” while crowd surfing and she looked like she was having a blast! She also called on Puerto Rican Bad Bunny to perform a duet on the cover of Cardi B’s “I Like It”.

JLo got political in her performance as she graced the stage , draped in a Puerto Rican flag. This was a statement against the Trump administration who refused funds to Puerto Rico. She was joined by her 11 year old daughter , Emme Marible on stage who sang “Let's Get Loud”.

Shakira said in a pre game interview that “ This year's Halftime show is an all inclusive party”. They performed together for the finale which ironically was “Waka Waka” that was the official song of a completely different sport event in 2010!

The Super Bowl LIV Show saw a string of stunning performances, so how can we not talk about it? From Shakira and Jennifer Lopez to Demi Lovato, it was a stage like no other. Now, Demi’s become the talk of the town as she kicked off the festivities at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami with a brilliant rendition of the national anthem.

Now, just to give you some context, over the past few years, the national anthem has been performed at the Super Bowl by artists like P!nk, Luke Bryan, Lady Gaga, Idina Menzel and Gladys Knight. So, it’s clearly a very big deal and it looks like Demi’s done justice to it!

Clad in a sparkling white jumpsuit, all her high notes were on point and it seemed as though, the entire crowd was in a trance as her voice filled every corner of the stadium. It looks like the singer’s returned to the music scene with a lot more confidence and courage and she proved just this with her stunning Grammy performance, where she debuted her heartbreaking track, ‘Anyone’.

This had been Demi’s first public performance since 2018, when she overdosed and had to take a break for a year and a half to recover and get back on her feet. And that’s why, for fans across the world, it was so moving to watch her take the stage yet again during the Super Bowl.

In fact, earlier in Super Bowl weekend, Demi even joined the chart-topping duo Dan + Shay on stage for their Grammy-winning ballad "Speechless." We can’t wait to see what else lies in store for her this year, perhaps a new single, a new album? We’ll just have to wait and see!

Shakira just bombarded us with a new album and the news of her return to the music scene has us leaping out of our chairs in excitement. This release comes right in time for her highly anticipated Super Bowl LIV halftime show performance, scheduled just two weeks away ! This latest Spanish collaboration titled “ Me Gusta” comes with Anuel AA , a Puerto Rican rapper.

‘Me Gusta’ aka ‘ I like Sounds’ is romantic yet, riddled with tension and yearning. They play the role of a couple whose long term love is on the rocks, and the song follows their attempt to reclaim their lost charm. The single features the hook “la la la la” of the 1993 reggae hit titled “Sweats” by Inner Circle! The duo is being critiqued for the same but will fans overlook it and let it pass for old times sake?

‘Me Gusta’ showed up after Shakira wrapped up the year with an epic performance at the Davis Cup with a medley of her hits! Last November , her theatrical release of ‘Shakira in concert: EL Dorado World Tour’ hit the box office along with a live album. Fans all over the world await the highly anticipated super bowl LIV on February 2nd 2020! Honestly, we're still not over her record hit ‘Waka Waka’ which was the 2010 official FIFA world cup song!

Over the past two years, Shakira's actually been quite busy! She released her Spanish album “El Dorado” and it topped the charts in 37 countries upon release and even won Best Latin Pop Album at the 2018 Grammy Awards and the Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2017 Latin Grammy Awards.

"Nuevo sencillo!!! New single!!!" Shakira announced on social media following Anuel AA’s announcement. Their posts were accompanied by a picture offering an insight into the new single with both artists gazing at the camera, Shakira dressed in an elaborated pale peach outfit graces a table with Anuel AA behind.

We can't wait to see what else she's in store for us in 2020!

The global superstar Shakira El Dorado World Tour Live album is out now! As the singer mentioned this album is a “gift” after recovering from a vocal chord injury. The singer says, “I never thought my voice would go away. That was unthinkable. It was so inherent to my nature, to who I am. It’s my identity”. The singer added:” When I couldn’t speak, when I couldn’t sing, it was the worst nightmare of my life”.

The documentary was shot mostly during a concert in Los Angeles, with some footage from 2018 trek’s farewell in Bogota, Colombia and other performances among the more than 50 that made up the global world tour.
The film, directed by Shakira and TV veteran James Merryman, is scheduled to be shown in more than 2000 theatres in 60 countries. In the US an encore presentation on Nov. 17 will follow the premiere.

Jennifer Lopez took to twitter to confirm that she would be this year's Super Bowl halftime performer. But here’s the plot twist: she won’t be performing alone, fellow Latin music powerhouse Shakira will also be joining her. Both artists posted pictures of each, hinting at a possible collab on stage.

The Super Bowl will take place at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium. Previously, the only Latin performers to take the Super Bowl halftime stage are Gloria Estefan in 1992 and 1999 and Enrique Iglesias alongside a slew of other artists in 2000.

The Super Bowl performance will be a follow-up to Lopez’s ‘It’s My Party’ tour which doubled as a birthday celebration. While kicking off her 24-city North American tour in June — her first in over six years — at The Forum in Los Angeles, Lopez performed all of her hits, spanning from ‘If You Had My Love’ and ‘Jenny From the Block’ from her 1999 debut studio album, to her latest single, ‘Medicine.’

Shakira’s also been equally active in the music scene as just last year, she had kicked off her El Dorado World Tour, in June 2018. And just last month it was announced that Shakira’s tour will be brought to theaters this fall, it will premiere in a one-night event on November 13.
