The nomination list for the 65th Annual Grammy Awards for the year 2026 has dropped in, and it's a strong moment for genre‑spanning artists. The Recording Academy announced on 7th November, 2025, that the ceremony will be held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, 1st February, 2026. Leading the pack is Kendrick Lamar with nine nominations, while Lady Gaga, Bad Bunny and Sabrina Carpenter also have major showings.

With new categories introduced, this year's list reflects the evolving sound of popular music.

Power Nominations and First Time Highlights

Kendrick Lamar leads the nominations with nine nods, putting him ahead of Lady Gaga, producer‑songwriters like Jack Antonoff and Cirkut (each with seven), and Bad Bunny, Sabrina Carpenter and others tied at six. Big general-field categories include Song of the Year (also with big names), Record of the Year (Bad Bunny's 'DtMF,' Lady Gaga's 'Abracadabra,' Lamar & SZA's 'Luther,' Carpenter's 'Manchild'), and Album of the Year with nominees like Bad Bunny's 'Debí Tirar Más Fotos,' Lady Gaga's 'Mayhem,' Kendrick Lamar's 'GNX,' and Sabrina Carpenter's 'Man's Best Friend.'

Among first‑time or breakout mentions: artists such as Doechii and K‑pop‑linked group HUNTR/X (with 'Golden') have got nods in major fields, highlighting the growing representation of various genres. This year, the Grammys have introduced two new categories: Best Album Cover and Best Traditional Country Album; the previously titled Best Country Album category has been changed to Best Contemporary Country Album.

In context of adding categories, Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. recently told Grammy.com, that "I'm thrilled that many of this year's changes…allow us to honour even more creators. That's always a positive outcome for me. But even more importantly, these are much-needed updates that ensure those who are making significant contributions to the musical process are properly recognized and have the opportunity to be celebrated on Music's Biggest Night."

Looking Back, Eligibility & What's Ahead

The 2026 nominations follow last year's 2025 Grammy cycle, where many of these artists had been contenders or winners, but this time the stakes feel higher with crossover success and genre mixing. Sabrina Carpenter, for instance, was nominated before and is currently included in all three major categories (Album, Song, and Record). Lady Gaga and Kendrick Lamar have likewise stepped into serious contention for Album of the Year for the first time with those particular works.

Since the eligibility window ended on 30th August, 2025, some releases, including Taylor Swift's 'The Life of a Showgirl,' were not eligible for the latest nominations. Voting for final winners kicks off from 12th December, 2025 and runs through 5th January, 2026. All eyes now turn to the main ceremony in Los Angeles to see whether the nominations translate into wins, whether first‑timers break through, and whether big names convert their many nods into trophies. 

The 2026 Grammys are expected to be a landmark event in musical inclusivity and artistry because of the wide range of genres represented, including pop, rap, Latin, K-pop, and more.

Jon Batiste, Silk Sonic, Olivia Rodrigo and others won many Grammys at the Grammys 2022 in Las Vegas on 3rd April.

The pre-telecast ceremony, which was broadcast on the Grammys website and YouTube channel, was where the majority of the awards were given out. Kanye West for Best Melodic Rap Performance for 'Hurricane' and Best Rap Song for 'Jail,' Tyler, The Creator for Best Rap Album for 'Call Me If You Get Lost,' and Olivia Rodrigo for Best Pop Solo Performance for 'Drivers License' were among the early winners.

The main event began at 8 p.m. EST (1 a.m. BST), with the biggest trophies of the night being handed out, including Record of The Year, Song of The Year, Album of The Year and Best New Artist. Jon Batiste led the nominations with 11 nods, followed by Justin Bieber with eight. Doja Cat, Rodrigo and Billie Eilish were all nominated for seven awards.

Batiste took up the most trophies of the night, with five,
including Album of The Year for 'We Are.' Silk Sonic, who won four accolades
for their song "Leave The Door Open," including Record Of The Year
and Song Of The Year, came in second. Rodrigo received three awards, including
Best New Artist, while Kanye West, Tony Bennett, and Lady Gaga each received
two.

Following the passing of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins on 25^th March, a homage was paid to him. The Foo Fighters were supposed to perform during the event, but they've now dropped out and cancelled their planned tour.

BTS gave an incredible performance of their smash single
'Butter,' dressing up as undercover agents for the occasion, while Eilish sang
'Happier Than Ever' from a rain-soaked rooftop while donning a Taylor Hawkins
t-shirt. Rodrigo performed a cover of her breakthrough hit 'Drivers License,'
Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow collaborated on 'Industry Baby,' Nas performed songs
from his back catalogue, and Lady Gaga paid tribute to Bennett.

Drake is withdrawing his two 2022 Grammy nominations. The rapper had been nominated for Best Rap Album (for Certified Lover Boy) and Best Rap Performance (for “Way 2 Sexy”). The Grammy withdrawal decision was made by Drake and his management. There will not be replacement nominees in the two categories.

Drake’s withdrawal follows other recent changes to the 2022 Grammy nominations: Marilyn Manson lost one of his nominations (Best Rap Song for Kanye West’s “Jail”) due to changes to the songwriting credits, and Linda Chorney was given a nod for Best American Roots Song. In addition, credited Sour writers Taylor Swift, Jack Antonoff, and Annie Clark (aka St. Vincent) lost Album of the Year nominations.

Drake has expressed frustrations with the Grammy Awards and the Recording Academy in the past. Last year, after the Weeknd received zero nominations for the 2021 Grammys, Drake wrote in an Instagram Story, “I think we should stop allowing ourselves to be shocked every year by the disconnect between impactful music and these awards and just accept that what once was the highest form of recognition may no longer matter to the artist that exist now and the ones that come after.” He continued, “It’s like a relative you keep expecting to fix up but they just won’t change their ways. The other day I said [the Weeknd] was a lock for either album or song of the year along with countless other reasonable assumptions and it just never goes that way. This is a great time for somebody to start something new that we can build up overtime and pass on to the generations to come.”

Back in 2017, after he skipped the Grammys, Drake criticized the Recording Academy for nominating “Hotline Bling” in rap categories despite insisting his hit was a pop song. He also said, “We’ve been conditioned to think that this is the true award for our accomplishments.”

Later, in 2019, Drake attended the Grammys but turned down an opportunity to perform during the ceremony. That year, he won Best Rap Song for “God’s Plan,” but his microphone was cut off during his acceptance speech.

The Recording Academy and CBS announced that Trevor Noah, Comedy Central's Emmy Award-winning "The Daily Show" host and comedian, will return to host the 2022 GRAMMYs Awards show, officially known as the 64th GRAMMY Awards.

Previously, Noah hosted the 63rd GRAMMY Awards, which took place in March.

"Trevor was amazing as our host for the 63rd GRAMMY Awards with praise from the music community, music fans and critics,"  Harvey Mason jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, said. "We're so excited to welcome Trevor back to the GRAMMYs stage and feel fortunate to once again have him hosting what we believe will be an unforgettable evening."

"Trevor brought his trademark talent and versatility to last March's GRAMMYs, and we can't wait for him to host the event on CBS and Paramount+ again this year," George Cheeks, President and CEO, CBS and Chief Content Officer, News & Sports, Paramount+, said.

Noah is a Grammy nominee himself, having received a nod for his standup special Trevor Noah: Son of Patricia in the 2020 awards. Last week, the Recording Academy revealed the nominations  for the 64th GRAMMY Awards and announced that, for the first time, there are 10 nominees in each of the General Field Categories: Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Best New Artist. This year's leading nominees include Jon Batiste (11), Justin Bieber (8), Doja Cat (8), H.E.R (8), Billie Eilish (7), and Olivia Rodrigo (7).

As the only peer-selected music accolade, the GRAMMY Awards are voted on by the Recording Academy's voting membership body of music makers, who represent all genres and creative disciplines, including recording artists, songwriters, producers, mixers, and engineers. The 64th GRAMMY Awards are produced by Fulwell 73 Productions for the Recording Academy. Ben Winston, Jesse Collins and Raj Kapoor are executive producers and Jeannae Rouzan Clay joins the team as co-executive producer. Hamish Hamilton returns as director and Kapoor serves as showrunner.

Prior to the 64th GRAMMY Awards telecast, the annual GRAMMY Awards Premiere Ceremony will be held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on 31st January, 2022, at 12:30 p.m. PT; the Premiere Ceremony will stream live on GRAMMY.com and the Recording Academy's YouTube channel.

On 2^nd September Billboards and Telemundo announced that Maná will be honoured with the icon award at the 2021 Billboard Latin Music Awards.

The Mexican rock band that has topped charts and won Grammys will be recognized for “having carved out a career that has not only remained relevant through time but has also made them the most distinguished band in their genre, celebrated globally for achieving both musical and commercial success.”

Comprised of Fher Olvera, Alex González, Sergio Vallín and Juan Calleros, Maná will be honored during the awards ceremony set to take place Sept. 23 live on Telemundo. Maná will also deliver an exclusive performance of their new single, a remake of the classic "El Reloj Cucú" featuring 12-year-old vocalist Mabel, during the awards show.

Additionally, Maná’s frontman will be joined by Mabel to host the Inside the Soul of the Artist panel, which will honor single mothers and discuss growing up fatherless and the role heartbreak plays in the creative process, at the Billboard Latin Music Week -- which returns to Miami Sept. 20-24.

Maná has placed over 30 songs on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs including rock en español anthems such as "Labios Compartidos" and "Lluvia al Corazón," which spent eight consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the tally. The Billboard Latin Music Awards will feature additional performances by Christian Nodal, Ana Bárbara, Reik, Myke Towers, among many others. The event will also be simulcast on Hispanic entertainment cable channel Universo and throughout Latin America and the Caribbean on Telemundo Internacional.

The awards will coincide with Billboard Latin Music Week, which will host live conversations and performances with superstars such as Karol G, Daddy Yankee, Nicky Jam, Rauw Alejandro, Natti Natasha and many more.

On Friday (April 30th), the Grammys announced a change to their voting system for nominations to its top four awards. ‘Secret’ committees will no longer choose the nominations for the awards and instead, the voting will be done by the majority of Academy members.

Grammys 2020

Fans were outraged last year when despite The Weeknd breaking the charts with his albums, his name was excluded from the nomination list.

The pop singer took to his social media handle to express his anger at the review committee and called out the Grammys as being ‘Corrupt’. “You owe me, my fans, and the industry transparency”, he wrote in a tweet. Several others in the industry including Zayn Malik and Halsey had also opened up about the incident and voiced their support for the singer.

Soon after, in a shocking statement, The Weeknd announced that he will no longer be submitting his music at the Grammys anymore.

The Academy may have made the effort to bring a change in their system to make it more transparent and inclusive but The Weeknd still stands by his decision from last year to not participate in it anymore. He released a statement where he acknowledges the change they have made but also made it clear that it is still not going to change his mind about not submitting his music.

Looks like the Grammys lost itself a really bright artist and they sure are going to have to tread more carefully in the future to avoid such controversies again.

The Recording Academy aka the Grammys announced on Friday,1st May that it will no longer consider the votes of anonymous review committees for its top four awards-Best albums, Best Song, Record of the year, and Best New Artist.

Describing the big change, the Academy said in a statement that this was “to ensure that the Grammy Awards rules and guidelines are transparent and equitable.”

Last year, several allegations against the corrupt system of voting in the Grammys surfaced when pop star The Weekend called out it's Secret Committees’ after his name was completely left out from the nominations despite his songs breaking records on the charts.

Several others in the industry including Zayn Malik and Halsey had also voiced their anger towards the incident and called for more transparency in the voting process.

In the change that has been announced on Friday, nominations will now be made following the votes cast by ALL Academy voting members instead of the select few who made up the review committees.

The Academy also announced that it was adding two new Grammy categories – for best global music performance, and best Latin urban music album this year.

We’re seeing the Grammys put in quite the effort to make its platform as transparent and credible as possible. Let’s hope all of this reflects in the way it runs in the coming years.

Billie Eilish has dropped the second track to her new album Happier Than Ever and we can’t seem to get enough of the singer’s beautiful soothing voice. Lil Wayne Wins 4 Grammys In One Night!

Back in 2009, the Grammy Awards let Lil Wayne take four trophies home. These awards were of best rap solo performance for "A Milli", best rap song for "Lollipop," best rap performance by a duo or group for his "Swagga Like Us" collab and best rap album for 'Tha Carter III'. Even in 2017, the rapper received the award for best rap performance for 'No Problem'.
