Inspired by Robert Hamer's 1949 British crime classic 'Kind Hearts and Coronets,' the story follows Becket Redfellow, played by Glen Powell. Producers Benjamin Kramer and Teddy Schwarzman of Black Bear Pictures recently spoke with Deadline but declined to offer any clarity on the film's status. When asked about both 'In the Grey' and another upcoming Ritchie project, 'Wife and Dog,' Schwarzman simply offered no comment. He also avoided confirming whether the titles are still housed under Black Bear, hinting at possible shifts in distribution.

The silence has led to mounting speculation. Unlike 'Operation Fortune: Ruse du Guerre,' which Lionsgate delayed in 2022 due to real-world geopolitical sensitivity, 'In the Grey' does not appear to face similar cultural or political concerns. Who is Tony Kiritsis?

Kolodney first learned about Tony Kiritsis during the pandemic, when he came across a podcast episode that mentioned the hostage case. He explained that he had then found an old online video showing several major moments from the ordeal—Kiritsis marching through the streets, making jokes at police officers, slipping on ice, stealing a police vehicle, and even holding an impromptu press conference in the centre of Indianapolis.

Kolodney recalled that the footage left him shocked that no one had adapted the incident into a film before, a realisation that immediately pushed him toward developing the project.

He began pitching the idea to his manager to gauge interest, and eventually wrote the script on spec. To accurately capture the events, Kolodney reached out to Indianapolis historians Alan Berry and Mark Enochs, who provided him with an extensive research archive containing photos, transcripts, and official documents. Kolodney later described the collection as overwhelming in its detail and suggested that an entire series could be built from the era.

Still, he believed the strongest version of the story was a tightly focused, high-intensity narrative reminiscent of classic crime dramas—one that would begin the moment Kiritsis walked into the office with the shotgun and immediately plunge into the hostage crisis.

Emmy-winning actor Kiefer Sutherland, best known for his roles in '24,' 'Designated Survivor,' and 'The Fugitive,' is taking on a lighter role in his latest film, 'Tinsel Town.' The upcoming holiday comedy pairs Sutherland with Rebel Wilson and has just unveiled its first trailer, ahead of its release in theatres and on demand on 28th November.

Produced by Brainstorm Media, 'Tinsel Town' follows the story of a former Hollywood action star who has seen better days. Seeking a fresh start, he accepts a role in a small English village's Christmas pageant. With the guidance of a straightforward choreographer and an eccentric local cast, he begins to rediscover his passion for performance—and reconnects with his estranged daughter in the process.

About 'Tinsel Town' Trailer

In the trailer, Sutherland's character, Bradley Mack, faces the harsh reality of fading fame when he’s told that the industry no longer wants to hire him. Left with few options, he takes a job at a struggling English theatre just in time for the holidays. Upon arriving, Bradley is less than impressed by the low-budget production but soon finds himself drawn into the chaos and charm of the community. Rebel Wilson's character pushes him to take the project seriously, insisting that there's little time to pull the show together before Christmas.

Bradley's arrogance and Hollywood habits clash with his new surroundings—at one point, he complains about the production's quality and demands someone "call him a car," only to be humorously misunderstood by the local cast. 

As the story unfolds, he discovers that his ex-wife and daughter are also living in England, setting the stage for an emotional reunion. His daughter challenges him to reflect on his selfish ways, leading Bradley to finally realise how much he values his family and the unexpected joy the small-town play brings.

The film is directed by Chris Foggin, who previously helmed the 2022 holiday hit 'This Is Christmas,' and written by Frazer Flintham, Adam Brown, Piers Ashworth, and Jake Brunger. It is produced by Matt Williams, Pascal Degove, and Ava Aashna Chopra.

In a recent interview, the actor confirmed that series creator Howard Gordon has developed a new concept for another season, one that Sutherland personally finds strong and compelling.
