'The Beatles Anthology' is currently being re-released by Disney+ in collaboration with Apple Corps in a completely restored and remastered format. Peter Jackson's Wingnut Films and Park Road Post have been in charge of the project, and Giles Martin, the son of original producer George Martin, has been in charge of new audio mixes for a large portion of the music. The original eight episodes are back, but this time there's something extra: a brand-new ninth episode, featuring previously unseen footage of Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr reflecting on their shared life and work during the 1994–1995 sessions. 

The original directors for Episode One to Eight were Geoff Wonfor, Bob Smeaton, and Mah Longfellow; while, the ninth episode has been directed by Oliver Murray.

The project, titled The Ballad of Judas Priest, is being developed by Sony Music Vision and will be co-directed by Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine alongside filmmaker Sam Dunn, known for his work on metal documentaries. Paul McCartney has announced special cinema screenings of Wings' rare documentary film ‘One Hand Clapping’.

The project, revealed today, invites fans to journey back to 1974, when McCartney's band was working on the live studio album ‘One Hand Clapping’. Recorded in August of that year, while Wings were in their seventh consecutive week at the top of the UK album charts with ‘Band On The Run,’ the film captures the band during their time at Abbey Road Studios, where they were working on a documentary and a potential live studio album.

Directed by David Litchfield, this intriguing documentary offers a glimpse into the era, showcasing the band's historic recording session at Abbey Road Studios. Premiering as an exclusive cinema event on 26^th September, the film features rare footage, interviews with the band, and insights from the creative team. Check out an exclusive clip below.

The upcoming release will include previously unreleased Backyard Sessions, featuring Paul McCartney performing fan favourites on acoustic guitar. Alongside these sessions, the release will showcase the unreleased track ‘Blackpool’ and covers of McCartney's personal favourites such as ‘Twenty Flight Rock,’ which he played for John Lennon during their first encounter.

Reflecting on the project, McCartney remarked on the nostalgia of revisiting that era and the impressive music they achieved. He noted that it was a significant time for Wings as they began to gain traction after a long wait.

Originally recorded on 1970s videotape, the footage has been restored to 4K quality. The dialogue between songs has been separated using advanced MAL software, and the film features a new Dolby Atmos audio mix by Steve Orchard and Giles Martin.

The screenings of ‘One Hand Clapping’ will also include an exclusive introduction by McCartney and previously unseen Polaroid photos from the sessions. Marc Allenby, CEO of Trafalgar Releasing, expressed excitement about bringing McCartney's legendary music to the big screen, promising a memorable experience for both long-time fans and newcomers alike.

This announcement follows the release of Wings' 1974 live studio album, which, despite high demand, had never been officially released until 14th June. This release marked its first official appearance in 50 years.

The project has faced intense scrutiny from representatives of the late artist’s estate, who have criticized the film's accuracy and portrayal of events from Prince's life.

According to Variety, the controversy erupted after the estate's representatives reviewed an early cut of the documentary and found it to be fraught with “dramatic” factual inaccuracies and “sensationalized” depictions. The film, which had been in production for four years, was helmed by Ezra Edelman, known for his acclaimed work on the ‘O.J.: Made In America’ documentary. Edelman took over the project from Ava DuVernay, who initially began work on the film.

Edelman was granted extensive access to Prince’s personal archives, allowing him to delve deeply into the artist’s life and career. The first cut of the documentary was recently screened for select insiders, but the response was less than favourable. The estate expressed strong concerns that certain aspects of the documentary had been exaggerated and not adequately fact-checked, leading to significant disagreements with Edelman. Some sources indicated that the conflict also stemmed from issues of “control,” with the estate feeling that the documentary did not portray Prince in a sufficiently positive light.

Adding to the complications, the documentary was originally contracted as a six-hour series. However, Edelman delivered a nine-hour version, which reportedly breached the terms of the agreement. Despite these challenges, there have been suggestions that all parties involved might still be open to reaching a compromise to salvage the project.

As of now, neither Edelman, Netflix, nor Prince’s estate has made an official public comment regarding the status of the documentary. The dispute over the film’s content and direction has left its future uncertain.

A brand-new feature documentary with James Blunt in the lead has been described as Spinal Tap meets Alan Partridge.

The new project is the work of Lorton Entertainment, which also produced the upcoming George Ezra movie ‘End-To-End’, the Oasis documentary ‘Supersonic’, and the BBC movie ‘Bros: After The Screaming Stops’.

The new documentary, which was shot during Blunt’s 2022 Greatest Hit Tour, will examine the singer's background, from his service in the British Army to the creation of the best-selling album of the 2000s.

The official synopsis reads: “This the story of an ageing, British popstar, still fighting for relevance some seventeen years after his star momentarily twinkled. No one has a more extraordinary story than James Blunt. The soldier turned singer has one of the most inspiring trajectories in the history of music.”

“Filmed on the road during his 2022 aptly named Greatest Hit Tour, director Chris Atkins is given access to all areas following James Blunt across Europe. Delving into James’ unique backstory, from witnessing the genocide of the Kosovo War, recording the biggest selling album of the noughties, enduring the harsh backlash that followed his meteoric success, and then tweeting his way back to becoming a national treasure, this is an intimate portrait of James Blunt, as never seen before.”

It continues: “Described as Spinal Tap meets Alan Partridge, this is a behind the scenes, brutally honest story of a painfully self-aware, endlessly touring musician, for whom persistence eventually prevails.”

Steven Lappin, Ian Neil and Dom Freeman of Next of Kin Films, along with Julian Bird, Ed Barratt and Arthur Landon of Lorton Entertainment, will produce the movie.

On the announcement of the new documentary, Blunt said: “In hindsight, I’m not sure letting them film this was a good idea.”

There is no fixed date for the release yet.

Jennifer Lopez's upcoming OTT documentary 'Halftime' has released a trailer in which she talks about how 'Hustlers' was overlooked for an Oscars. On 8th June, the film will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival before being released on OTT on 14th June.

In the trailer, Lopez says that she does what she does, not for an award but to connect with people and make them feel things, because she wants to feel something. Lopez discusses her infamous Oscars snub for 'Hustlers' in the teaser, stating that she has always struggled in Hollywood to be heard, to be seen and to be taken seriously.

She added that that it was so hard and she had very low self-esteem and that she really had to figure out who she is and only believe in that and nothing else.

AC/DC frontman Bon Scott has been released, which you can see below.

Scott's family and friends offer fresh insights into his vulnerabilities and state of mind before his untimely death at the age of 33 in 1980, according to the latest episode of ABC documentary series Australian Story.

The episode includes insights
from Jimmy Barnes, John Brewster of The Angels and Johnny Young of Young Talent
Time, as well as the first-ever interview with Scott's younger brother Derek.

The 37-minute documentary is also
introduced by Brian Johnson, Scott's successor as AC/ DC's lead singer.

Last year, on what would have been Scott’s 75th birthday, his family launched a website featuring stories and tributes from renowned rock stars.

Bruce Howe, Scott's former
bandmate in Fraternity, said in the documentary that when Scott was bored, he
was at his most vulnerable.

‘Let The Canary Sing’, a documentary on Cyndi Lauper, is
slated to be released soon. The film will follow the singer from her infancy in
Queens, New York, to the top of the pop charts in the 1980s and beyond,
according to a press release.

Alison Ellwood, who directed 2020's The Go-Go's, is in charge of this film. Although no release date has been set, the documentary is rumoured to be in the works at Sony Music Entertainment's Premium Content Division.

Ellwood said that like many others, he assumed that Cyndi
Lauper was another young artist experiencing a meteoric rise to popularity and success
thanks to MTV, when she emerged onto the music scene in the early '80s.

She added that her music videos were wild and colourful, and her songs were infectious, such as 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun' [1983]. But, as it turns out, hers is a tale of hard labour, perseverance, and tenacity.

In 2014, NME published a list of ‘35 great Number Two
singles that were scandalously beaten to the top spot,’ which included Lauper's
party classic ‘Girls...’

In the United States, it was defeated to the top place by Van Halen's 'Jump,' and in the United Kingdom, it was beaten to the second spot by UB40's 'Red Red Wine.'

Lauper also earned a top ten single in the UK with
'Time After Time' (number three) and 'I Drove All Night' (Number Seven). 'A
Night To Remember' and 'Twelve Deadly Cyns...And Then Some' were both top ten
