Daniel Radcliffe has shared that he recently sent a heartfelt letter to the young actor taking over the role of 'Harry Potter' in HBO's upcoming television adaptation, Dominic McLaughlin. Appearing on 'Good Morning America' recently, Radcliffe was asked about the new series and the 11-year-old set to step into the iconic role he first played more than two decades ago.

Daniel Radcliffe explained that he does not believe new cast members are obligated to reach out to him, but since he personally knows several people involved in the production, he felt compelled to send McLaughlin a letter of encouragement. 

He said the young actor wrote back with a kind message of his own. Radcliffe added that he wants to avoid overshadowing the children starring in the series—including Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger—and hopes they can enjoy their experience without feeling the weight of past portrayals.

Reflecting on what he wrote, Radcliffe shared that his intention was simply to wish McLaughlin an incredible journey and to express his hope that the young star enjoys the process even more than he did. 

Seeing photos of the new trio, he said he felt protective and emotional, noting how young they seem and how surreal it is to think he once played the same role at their age. Despite the nostalgia, he expressed genuine excitement for the next generation stepping into the wizarding world.

More About New 'Harry Potter' Series 

The new HBO adaptation, which began production in July, will retell J.K. Rowling's seven-book saga across seven seasons and is slated to premiere in 2027. The series features a mix of new and returning talent, including John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu as Snape and Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, while Warwick Davis reprises his role as Professor Flitwick.

Evan Rachel Wood has joined the cast of the upcoming
'Weird Al' Yankovic biopic as one of the latest big names to join. The starring
role of Daniel Radcliffe as the titular singer and actor in WEIRD: The Al
Yankovic Story was announced last month (January 14), and production has
already begun. Wood will now play Madonna, whose 1984 classic 'Like A Virgin'
became a popular spoof for Yankovic in the form of 'Like A Surgeon,' which the
pop singer herself complimented upon its release.

According to Rolling Stone, Rainn Wilson (The Office)
has been cast as Dr. Demento in the Roku production, alongside Julianne
Nicholson (Mare of Easttown) and Toby Huss (Dickinson) as Yankovic's parents,
Mary and Nick.

According to a press release, WEIRD: The Al Yankovic
Story is written by Yankovic and Eric Appel of Funny or Die and will trace
Yankovic's life “from his meteoric rise to fame to his torrid celebrity love
affairs and famously depraved lifestyle.”

Colin Davis, Roku’s Head of Original Scripted Programming, added: “There clearly aren’t enough biopic movies about famous musicians and we were excited to shine a light on the incredibly true, unexaggerated story of Weird Al.”

creativity, and friends, coming together to make something genuinely funny and
we could not be prouder to call this film a Roku Original.”

Meanwhile, HBO revealed the premiere dates for Evan Rachel Wood's documentary Phoenix Rising on 22^nd February. The documentary, titled Don't Fall and Stand Up, follows Wood's decision to name Marilyn Manson as her alleged abuser. Don't Fall premieres on Tuesday, March 15, followed by Stand Up the following day.
